PLEASE DONT PLAY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU ARE IN TUNE !

1 - it sounds aweful. 2- We can and will cheat here, and use a tuner. Dont laugh, Even the pros, ALL OF THEM use tuners. If you have ever heard 2 guitars that are not exactly tuned to E and try to play together you know what i mean.,

SO YOU MUST GET IN TUNE FIRST

( learn how to tune guitar by ear at the bottom of the page )

TUNING IS EASY! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TURN THAT STRINGS KEY UNTIL IT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE NOTE THAT IS PLAYING.

Guitar Tablature or Tab is a notation used to write down music, so you can play it without any or very minimal knowledge of notes and sheet music.
Basically, Tablature is sheet music made simple.

Let's now start learning about how the Tab looks and how to read it.
First you have to know which line represents which string and which note. The letters you see in from of each line are notes representing notes of the strings played open. Meaning, if you play for example first string without pressing it anywhere it will sound as E note, just look, its easy........

E----thinnest----1st string--------

B--------------2nd string------------

G-----------3rd string---------------

D--------4th string------------------

A-----5th string----------------------

E--6th string-----------thickest---

Here is an example of a tab as you will see it on this site or anywhere on the internet. Numbers on each line mean that you play that string on a certain fret. Numbers are frets of course.

example is a E minor chord picked one note at a time, if you are in tune this sounds nice.

Easy Songs
Alright, In order to be able to play easy songs, you must be able to transition from all the chords that I had talked about earlier quickly. This is where practice starts paying off. You will be able to play many songs like Don McLean’s "American Pie", Bob Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door" and thousands more. These easy songs are also called "campfire songs" songs that revolve around basic guitar chords are often played around campfires... (Koom-bay-ahhh my lord.... etc). At this point you should go out and treat yourself to an "easy tablature" guitar book
